how it works

Built on Signal.
Validated by Practitioners.
Honest about what it knows.

AHI exists because affordable housing leaders make better decisions when they have better intelligence — and because that intelligence gets better when practitioners participate in building it. This page explains exactly how that works. Not as a marketing claim. As an accurate description of the system.

The Signal Collection

What AHI Tracks
and How

Weekly workforce signal collection across 600-plus organizations in three anchor regions — Colorado, Texas, and North Carolina. Job posting patterns serve as leading organizational health indicators: what roles organizations are filling, how quickly, at what compensation levels, and whether hiring behavior is expanding capacity or replacing what was lost.

Every record is reviewed. Organization type, role category, hiring intent, and structural necessity are assessed for each posting. The data ages in a long-lived archive — longitudinal depth is the primary analytical asset. A pattern observed once is a data point. A pattern observed across six consecutive weeks, across multiple regions and organization types, becomes a signal worth publishing.

Current collection: approximately 1,000 to 1,600 job records per week. 1,000-plus organizations tracked. Three anchor regions. Data collection began January 2026.

What Data Cannot Do
Alone

The combination is calibrated intelligence neither layer produces alone.

What AHI Claims (and doesn't)

Calibrated Honesty
is the Product.

AHI does not predict outcomes. It surfaces patterns that have historically preceded outcomes, with explicit acknowledgment of lag times and confidence levels. Every published observation carries a signal confidence designation — the difference between a six-week confirmed pattern and a single-period anomaly worth watching is stated, not implied.

AHI does not report facts in isolation. Every observation is contextualized against prior periods, adjacent regions, and peer organization types. A compliance hiring increase in Colorado is not a signal unless it diverges from Texas and North Carolina over the same period, or unless it persists longer than the established baseline would predict.

AHI does not replicate what already exists. CoStar wasn't built for this sector. HUD reports lag eighteen months. This platform tracks what those sources don't — organizational behavior at the practitioner level, interpreted for the leadership layer.
